Hi, very interesting website. I live in Puyallup, Wa and the design for workers in Mexico link was very interesting. We have a homeless coalition working towards providing safe housing that is not under the local bridge and permanent. We are just a few miles from the Port of Tacoma, so containers are available. In our county we have the same situation re slumlords and government not enforcing codes or making owners accountable. We also can be evicted without cause. Wa state L/T law is a joke. Tenants must bear the financial burden of hiring a lawyer, very limited pro bono here, upon losing the owner doesn't have to pay tenants costs. We have mold problems here also, three rivers floods every winter, creating much destruction and loss of homes. We have had 2 "100 year" floods in three years and it will continue to worsen until rivers are dredged. The riverbeds in some places are six feet higher due to annual debris buildup. My sons and I are ill from prolonged mold exposure in a rental. The mold was in the wall and crawlspace. Floors began to collapse, still owners didn't repair. We were forced to abandon most of our possessions and move.Now 90% of our income has to go to rent a newer apt in a complex with 24 hour maintenance to be safe. I am interested in container housing myself, as it is less expensive and hopefully more resistant to mold. When my health is better I hope to work full time, save money and get our own place. Keep up the ranting! Only when we can get a tenant lobby group more powerful than the landlord lobby will the situation get better. All states need to adopt a "mold code" also. Sept is Indoor Mold Awareness Month. Wishing you the best.

<strong>Hi Mike:</strong>

You're playing my song... Like you (although directly affected by Katrina) we jumped in, doing volunteer work, rebuilding homes, and trying to help get things back to normal (while we tried to sort out our own dilemma).

The most frustrating part was all the "participation" from local and state government, that just seemed to add four steps, for every step we took forward.

Insurance companies did what they wanted. Why? Powerful lobbies. Politicians did whatever they wanted, especially when a camera was turned on. But, they rarely delivered. Why? The same lobbies and "contributors."

So, a lot of us just had to find another road. Because sometimes... <em>"the cavalry never comes."</em> And that's what I'm trying to do. As we fight this, I'm trying to educate others in our predicament, so that they'll sidestep the pits I've drug my family into.

<em>I'm hoping the end result is a streamlined process allowing literally thousands of families to get back into safe homes, where they belong. In spite of those who would watch us fail.</em>

It seems it's more fashionable to give billions to idiots who ran their businesses into the ground (taking the economy with it) than to make sure that we safeguard our own families, and protect our future. It sickens me...

If we can assist you, your family, or anyone else affected by these conditions, we'll do all we can.
<em>
Thanks for your comments... and your support.</em>
<strong>

Ronin,
 I am over here in Mobile, and I am interested in containers for housing. I would like to meet you, maybe buy dinner for you and your family. I am curious of your designs, ideas, and problems with the government. I am not a lawyer, a businessman, or looking to profit. I am a truck driver that has had enough watching people being forced out of their homes and living on the the streets. I worked the Katrina aftermath, first with donations, second with camper/mobile home relocations, then with the attempted cleanup in Gulfport. I was disgusted and heartbroken over the B/S that the citizens on coastal MS had to face(and still are facing) trying to recover. Now with the economy in the toilet, the rich get bailouts and we get sh*t on yet again. There needs to be more education and acceptance of alternative housing and energy usage. Sorry, I do not mean to ramble on....Please feel free to contact me at your convienence. Again, I am very interested in talking with you in person..

Ashish: Whatever it actually is, it's not a number that someone would pay, I can assure you. Anybody reading my blog already knows that "while my opinions are my own... nobody would want to buy them! LOL!

I suspect that there are some out there that will use a number like this for "bragging rights." But bragging about a blog, is like bragging about yesterday's dinner... In a few hours, no matter what you do, it ends up going down the toilet... LOL!

Ashish: I'm not convinced. I've read your blog. I wouldn't give you a rupee for it. You don't know beans about music... LOL!
Actually, I think this value is computed, in part, by using prices that large companies spent to actually buy other companies that hosted blogs, or something. And I think it also includes "keywords" calculated from the content of your blogs. I have a lot of "blog based and hosted" research papers and stuff tied to the blogs, but still, the number is just ridiculous. Hell, I wouldn't give you a rupee for MY blog! It's a "cool" number, but I think it's just total marketing BS.
